Cadeira Jangada Chair and Ottoman by Jean Gillon (1968)

Also called ‘Captain’s Chair’ + Ottoman by Jean Gillon. The soft leather upholstery is slung on netting supported by a frame made of premier rosewood from the Jacaranda de Bahia tree. The Jangada Chair with Ottoman by Jean Gillon can be found manufactured by WoodArt Industria Brasileira or Probel, Brazil.

  1. Hi Don, my parents owned a modern furniture store in Manhattan in the mid ’60’s to the late ’70’s called Interiors Sound at 1307 2nd Ave. After they closed the store I have been towing around for 35 years a Jangada chair complete(but leather shot) and about seven pairs of Jangada side frames that are missing the front and rear cross pieces, all rosewood(jacaranda I believe). I also have one complete set of new netting and new black leather cushions(unstuffed). I’m trying to find someone competent to restore the first chair and create a second by cannibalizing one or two of the sides. Any suggestions?
