Bent beech framed leather-clad, hemp-backed Pernilla Chair designed by Bruno Mathsson in 1934 and produced by Dux, the company that purchased the Karl Mathsson Mobelfabrik.
Mathsson´s Pernilla chairs seem to possess a feminine sensibility, and this is symbolized in the chair#8217;s female name. The chair has been called #8220;the most comfortable chair you could possibly sit in#8221;, and its beautiful organic lines have also been widely praised. Pernilla 2 and 69 chairs are often combined with ottomans; the resulting design configuration closely resembles that of the Pernilla 3 lounger. Mathsson liked to create designs that had a great deal of flexibility and the ability to put together chairs and ottomans for different arrangements and use options is typical of his work. The Pernilla 69 and the Pernilla 2 are very close relatives in the chair family tree. Their natural lines pillow headrest and padded arms make these chairs engulf you in a form fitting perfect sitting position. Finished with soft leathers these chairs are unbelievably comfortable. Often accused of copying Aalto#8217;s Model no 43 and 406, Mathsson#8217;s famous Pernilla and Arbetsstol with their bent laminated wood frames and woven hemp webbing actually predate Aalto#8217;s chairs. Bruno Mathsson#8217;s chairs are highly ergonomic.
